July 2018 Favorites!

As July draws to a close (even though it feels like it should still be June), I thought I’d round up some of my favorite books, movies, foods, and whatever else I can think of in one post. Without further ado, here are the things that I’ve loved this month!

Mama Mia! Here We Go Again

Mama Mia! Here We Go Again

Okay, so here’s the deal. I saw this movie twice already. And, I’m going to be honest with you, if someone was like, “Hey, Giulia, do you want to go watch the new Mama Mia! with me tonight/tomorrow/next week/literally anytime?” I would not hesitate to say yes. Seriously, it was that good. A lot of times, the second-go at an already amazing movie is a poor addition to its cinematic universe; however, with Mama Mia! Here We Go Again, that is definitely not the case. I’m going to say something crazy here– but I kinda think that this sequel/prequel might just be…. better than the first movie. Idk though, I guess I’ll just have to go see it 10 more times to truly decide.

Icelandic Yogurt

I got this Icelandic style yogurt in a twelve pack from Costco, and it is so good! Not only does it have an insane amount of protein (12 grams!!), but it also tastes really good! It has a tangier flavor than Greek yogurt, and the consistency is thicker and more whipped. It has been a quick and easy snack to keep in the fridge this past month!

Coconut Oil

So if I’m always sunburned, does that mean that I’m really never sunburned since it’s pretty much my constant state? I’m not even joking (well maybe a little), but seriously, I have been sunburned this entire month. The only thing that I can truly rely on to soothe and moisturize my damaged skin is coconut oil. While I hate the sliminess of it, it really does help heal my burn and maintain any tan that I may have, so I concede to put it on every night.

Kickboxing

At the beginning of this month, my best friend (shout-out to Jolena, I know you read this) and I signed up for a kickboxing membership to get in shape, and it has been really fun! While the classes are super tough and kick (heh) my butt every time, it’s really great to be able to work out consistently and see my best friend multiple times a week.

This Sandwich

I did a post earlier this month about a prosciutto, egg, and cream cheese croissant breakfast sandwich, and it is amazing, so go check it out for more info.

Family time

I’m the type of person that values family over everything else, so any type of family time is a favorite in my book. Specifically this month, my dad, brother, and I went dirt biking/4-wheeling in the Tobacco Root Mountains. We rode up to Twin, Mckelvey, Mine, and Cliff Lakes, and (even though, surprise, I got sunburned) it was a great day in a gorgeous place!

Swedish Fish

My boss brought in Swedish Fish to work one day this month for a birthday, and I seriously think that I probably ate a million of them. Once you start eating Swedish fish, you can’t stop.

Girl in Hyacinth Blue by Susan Vreeland

My mom lent me this book because she loved it so much, and I definitely see why! It follows the story of a Vermeer (or is it) painting as it changes owners throughout the years. It starts with the most current person’s story and moves backwards in time with each chapter. Each chapter reads as a short story about an owner, describing the events that surround their acquisition of the painting, what the painting means to them, and how the painting leaves their possession. The language used in this book is artful and really paints a vivid picture in the mind of the reader (puns fully intended). Not only is this book a beautiful read, but it also leaves the reader wanting more. Vreeland does a great job of grasping the reader’s attention and holding onto it as she builds an emotional attachment to the painting she chronicles.

Tazo Passion Tea

Passion Tea

My mom got me this tea, and I have been loving it as an iced drink in the afternoons! While she likes to add coconut milk, I prefer to just add sugar and ice after steeping it. It’s super tasty and looks pretty, too!

Bronzer

Since I’m always sunburned, I’ve gotten pretty good at figuring out what kind of makeup makes it look less terrible. Bronzer is one of those tricks I’ve picked up. Just by dusting some bronzer along my hairline and under my cheek bones, I tend to look less red and more, well, bronzed. It’s wayyyy less irritating for my skin to use this technique to minimize the angriness of my sunburn than to try and cover it all with foundation or concealer.

Quay Australia Sunglasses

I impulse bought the Camden Heights sunglasses from Quay Australia a few months ago because they were on sale for $29… I wore them a lot this month…

Sweet Peas

My boss grows colorful, fragrant, gorgeous sweet peas in her garden and has been bringing a fresh bouquet into the office a couple times a week. It makes me so happy every time I walk by one of them and get a whiff of the sweet scent!
